I need to change the oil in my transmission and there is no drain plug. The only way I can tell is to take the plates off where the PTO shaft would go. Does anybody have any ideas on how a transmission oil change would go?

You've got it, pull out the bottom bolt on the PTO cover and the oil will drain out of there. I use a filter kit on mine so I pull the cover every time and wipe out the bottom as well. You'll need to seal the bolt and cover with RTV Blue when you put it back together or it will leak.

Brings up question

RTV blue, grey, black, red, ultra grey and lord knows what else. When I changed rear end fluid I used ultra grey. Directions on the tubes of RTV all say about the same thing. Is there a chart some where that tells best product for job at hand. Can you just use blue to seal all oil?

Any of the RTV material mentioned above will work, but I prefer black because it matches the transmission color. Be sure to wipe or suction all of the lube out of the bottom of the transmission and as much of the tailshaft as possible. I've never understood why manufacturers don't put drain plugs in the bottom of the transmission. It would make it much easier to do lube changes.

Since the plates are higher than the lowest point would it be better to elevate the rear to get the majority of the fluid out. Also is there anywhere else other than the dealer to get GL-4 fluid?

You could elevate the rear, but elevating one side may be more beneficial. You'll see what I mean when you do the lube change. Amsoil makes a synthetic GL-4, which is what I'm using. I am quite sure there are manufacturers that do also, I'm just not familiar with them.
