Hey guys

Why am i hearing that the 5 spd is a better trans to race with? Im gonna do light towing (under 10k lbs) every once and a while, some racing the ricers around town and as my daily drive. I want a transmission that will hold up good. Whats the best choice 5 or 6 speed?

Ir's faster to shift through the gears with an NV4500 than an NV 5600, because of one less gear AND because the NV5600 just takes more time to shift because of its design. The flip side is that the NV5600 is a better trans for towing and is stronger (weighs 150 lbs more than the 5 spd). Depends what you do.

If your not going to tow that heavy and want to race and bang gears you are going to want the 5 speed, the 6 speed can be shifted fairly fast but the gear ratio's are much closer and make towing easier than racing.
