IS THE NV5600 IN THE 3RD GEN SAFE IN STOCK TRIM AT 800 H. P. AS A DAILY DRIVER WITH 37 INCH TIRES, AND WHAT ABOUT TOWING AT AROUND 4-5OO H. P. LEVEL WITHOUT BEING VIOLENT WITH THE THROTTLE...

No its junk... Send the trans to me for proper disposal.

if you send me two new ones back :-laf i might try to rebuild the trans that is in it, it doesnt need it yet, but its going to, it sure does have alot of gear whine, not as bad as others that i have heard but its not making visual metal yet...

here's the memo that nobody seems to have received...

horsepower doesn't kill parts... I mean... it can due to overspeed, but it's TORQUE that breaks stuff.

I ran mine at 619hp/1465tq everyday and towed with it and had no problem with it. I could run it at the track and go through the gears without getting out of the throttle and no problems! so I think it should be ok!!

ps, if it can be broke I can do it!!

sweeeet:cool:

depends on how long you want it to last. they way parts are getting for them i wouldnt get too carried away but i have shallow pockets.

it's prolly one of the few trannies that are only rated at 600ft#'s that can take 2000#'s and be fine.

Then again, the cummins can take that same torque with stock bottom end as well.

Maybe dodge has something here..... it's too bad my seat squeaks at 3. 5 years old. heh. . :-laf

So at what point does the AAM 11. 5 break?

And that transfer case, another NV part. , It's splitting up 2000#'s between 2 outputs typically when you are making 2000# (except on a dyno... ). I've heard of two or three twisting some parts in two.

TCluff,

ATS makes a rebuilt NV5600. They upgrade barrings and other various parts to make them a bit better then stock. And it looks like they paint it a nice purple (good for . 020/sec faster shifts I suspect).

I asked them a few years back if there was a way to improve the speed and ease of shifting, I got what was essentially "no and why would you want to". This coming from a company that makes and sells performance diesel parts (and many would ask that of diesel an general... Why?. . right? :) )

Anywho. See if they figured out what can be done as far as syncros and other parts to gain any advantages would be my suggestion.

THANKS

Stop gettin excited and just use you head in the way you drive and tow! Of course you know you ain't goin to tow 14000# with all the hp without throwin some serious egt's!!

OR I COULD BE LIKE YOU AND BUY A NEW TRUCK EVERY TIME IT BREAKS CAUSE I CANT FIGURE IT OUT, ACTUALLY TOWING EGT IS ABOUT 1175 AT 500 H. P. HENCE THE TWINS, EGT WASNT THE QUESTION, 5600 TRANS RELIABILITY WAS WHAT WE ARE GETTING AT:-laf

The nv5600 is fairly tuff, but i can tell you in my experience that 6th gear was the weakest point in mine, then the main shaft which i seems to only be a sled pulling thing but im sure it can be broke on the street. I wasnt even jamin gears i was headed out of town went to pass a semi and throttled on some turbo lit then i gave her a little more and bang! then the worst grinding iv ever heard, took all the teeth off of 6th, and im a long ways from 800HP EEP told me its very common do not throttle on in OD or 6th with that much power! Now i thinkin im going to put a Haisley NV4500 in mine they seem to build a real tuff transmission and a lot cheaper than a 5600 and if i do break it i call haisley and they send me another for 1/2 the price of a 6 speed.

Oh I got no problem figuring them out! :-{}It's what I do for a pay check!!:-laf I just keep telling myself I ain't going to mess with them then the hp bug bites!! If the 05 was a 4x4 I would have kept it! this 6. 7 is great except the milage sucks big time!! 12-15 is all she gets! Looks like it is time for a programer! my egt was about 1050 towing with the big single. Back to the subject, be smart and I don't think it will give you any problems. :)
