NP 271 = New Process 271



Far as I know they are not the same company seeing as how New Process is still in business.

And from the (05) service manual if you have one, look at page 21 - 1373. Specifically says "NV 271".



Maybe they spun of the transfer case part and re-named them for more current truck models?

I'll tell you this, I just had my 5600 replaced under 7-70 warranty, (meatal in case & 3rd gear grinding) after I got my new one Im convinced these trannys are feed grinders. My new one shifts just as crappy or worse. Real hard to put in gear, hard to downshift, 3rd gear grinds in the new one. NOT HAPPY I got away from the auto cause I thoght it was junk, now I want it back. Oh well. They did paint it semi gloss black

I put in my 3rd one @ just under 100K. Never any bearing, synro, ect. problems, I just keep teaaring the teeth off the gears. All 3 shifted like **** & I'll be damn glad when I don't have one anymore.
