Does anybody know the differences between the '00-'02 5600 and the '03-'04s that would account for the fact that the earlier models are >$400 more than the new ones? Prices from dodgeparts.com.

The only difference I know of is that the NV5600 used in 2000 had a smaller input shaft to mate to the SO engine. There have been some improvements ater 2001, but I don't think any of them affect compatability. This information is worth what you paid for it (not counting the TDR $35 fee).

Some aftermarket clutches that work on 2nd gen 6 speeds won't work on the 3rd gen 6 speeds because the Transmission adapter on older 6 speeds had a removable spacer for the starter that had to be removed to insure starter engaement with the flywheel.

The newer 3rd gen transmission adapters have a spacer that is built in to the adapter and is not removable.

So make sure any aftermarket clutch you buy is compatible with the 3rd gen six speed.
