It looks like I have a leak that's coming from the output shaft. I looked in the FSM and it seems to have a bunch of "special install tools" listed. Does anyone know what is involved to remove/replace?

I too am getting ready to stop this leak, the napa seal is 19211 which I got off tdr, but I too am wondering is there anything special needed to complete this task?

Dunno about this specific one, but in the past, all I used was a heavy screwdriver to pry the old one out, then a broad piece of flat iron and a hammer to carefully drive the new one in...

Great thanks for the PN. Saved me 50% off the dealer price. Gunna try to pick up the part tomorrow and have at it.

Let us know how it came off. Hope Gary's right on the screwdriver fix. Just noticed my transmission is getting damp at the out-put. No drips on the floor yet but it might not last long.

Well I took a better took, and this rubber seal thing was lose.

Is that the actual seal, or just a dust boot? If it's just the dust boot, and it was lose, then the trans wouldn't necessarily be leaking, then my seal is probably bad anyway?

I figured I would top off the fluid and keep an eye on it. I am not sure how this wouldn't gotten so lose to begin with. It was basically off. I tapped it back in snug.

Well, It seems the factory seal keeps popping off. Any ideas ... I am going to replace this seal with the Napa seal today. I'm assuming I have to remove the rear portion of the rear DS, then the center carrier crossmember, then the front part of the rear DS ?

Patrick the part # I posted was for a 4 X 4 between the transfer case and the transmission. The seal did go into the transmission. I replaced mine and it is already leaking again. Not as bad but still wet. Seems the story of my life, new axels were installed in my wifes caravan and now the seals have been replaced three times in 4 months, and they still leak. Ive given up on the mini van.

Got it, that part is way too small for the nv5600 output shaft... seeing about the right NAPA part and/or a factory part right now. I have my truck on ebay and need to get it fixed up well for the next owner.

This seal kept popping off by itself. I tapped it back in, and it came out, same thing over and over again. I will try the new seal from NAPA tomorrow, but can't figure out why it is coming out to begin with, and whether or not the new seal will fix it. Does this seal need to go in a certain direction (it's got that little tab in the bottom there???????)
