I read this rumor on another thread, but I don't believe it (yet, anyway). There's been nothing in the press about it, and there's nothing on NVG's website to indicate a permanent stop to NV5600 production. It is possible they temporarily stopped making it if DC was the only company using them. That absolutely does not imply they don't ever intend to make them again! It simply means they're waiting for another buyer to come along with a contract.

The 5600 is a great transmission. Someone will want to buy them. They're rumored to be an option on the 4500/5500 series trucks.

On Edit: uh-oh. I just realized NVG's website is blank now, with the exception of the press release that Magna bought them. Magna's website doesn't seem to mention the NV5600.

Okay, now I believe the rumor. :{ :(

No more parts, the sky is falling the sky is falling.

How many old cars and trucks that the big three quit producing twenty thirty years ago and you still can find parts for them.

Internet: the quickest and easiest way to spread paranoia. :-laf

It would be nice if they re-introduce the NV5600 into the 4500,5500 trucks.

If they do, hopefully it will bring the outrageous prices down on NV5600 parts.

I just stopped by my dlr. about 2 hrs. ago, they had an 03 dually on the lift, I knew the trk. , so asked what they were doing to it, the tech. said they were putting a G56 transmission & DMF in it. The NV5600 went out and they couldn't find one anywhere for it.

BTW, the trk. had 297K on it and had never been serviced!

I'll bet they didn't try Standard Transmission.

So does this mean that if my NV5600 goes out under warranty that I'll get a G56?

Klenger, I don't know if they tried Standard, he just said they could not find one anywhere.

What goods the core if you can't get parts? He said all the gears were out of it.

Hey there, Yogibear, how many miles on your NV-5600?

Hi Wayne, how ya doing? Had 129K on the 1st one, 121K on this one now. The 1st one didn't really go out on me, it would jump out of 6th when I was towing down a hill and would let off the pedal, especially if I hit some rough spots. A brg. was getting bad, looked like it had some rust on it, I think it was bad from the git go, but was out of warranty. I found a new one for $200. more than a rebuild, so went that way.

My NV5600 went out about 1000 miles ago. Its been sitting at the Dodge dealer for one month already :( . The service manager ordered a new trans (NV5600) after its been there for a month already and said it would be three weeks to a month, maybe before it comes in. I also called the guys at Blumenthals, and they basically told me good luck. They've had a number of the trans on back order, but he didn't tell me for how long they've been on back order.

So I've been back on the phone with the dealer trying to find out when the trans is coming in, but they wont change there story.

If they would replace it with the G56 I would be happy, so I'll give them a call on Monday. That would be good if they would do that. Oo.

Thanks for the information yogibear.
