I have been using redline MTL for about 50k miles now on the 5600 and this last oil change I put in extra was able to put in just shy of 7 quarts. wanted to try this with all the past talk of more fluid with the rear seal. I have used the PTO Filter for some time now. the filter wasnt bad at all. but this is the first time putting in more oil. its been maybe 100 miles on the new oil and I have noticed that the gears are harder to engage mostly reverse. is it due to new oil or to much or just the oil is just to new. I never experienced this in the past fluid changes. any thoughts. I have to put it in 1st gear than it will go in reverse but going into reverse alone it wont.

sounds a lot like clutch problems to me. we use trans-cools and overfill by a quart. have 400,000 on one of the trucks with no problem

well after 700 miles over the 4th when i came home I drained out almost 2 quarts and its still over filled with draining this. I drove the truck it engaged alot easier in reverse and shifted better. not 100% like before but I dont know my FE has about 30k on it. so if its the clutch. (peter) time for a D-disc. :-laf but the $:{. I guess drive when something breaks than I will know.

south bend FE question

question? what are the symptoms of the clutch failure. what parts? it will go in gear smoother now but still notchy if this makes sense. I have about 30k on my FE I dont know if southbend has a warranty or not. just seems that something isnt 100% of the time lining up. under the edge of the trany bell housing and where it meets the back of engine there is a sorta inspection slot but there is has been alot of dark grey grime coming out of it every now and then I would clean it but seems to be more now. I thought with the FE material there shouldnt be any residue coming out. is this true. I need to call sourceautomotive they are the ones that installed it. thanks for the help
