NV5600 Filter from Geno's

Anyone put Geno's filter for the NV5600 on their transmission? I have my doubts that splashing oil against a filter will do much good. What's your opinion?



Also what's the story on Amzoil? Does it really work that much better to justify the high cost? And if it's really that good why is it not sold in stores instead of multi-level marketing?

REDLINE MTL for your transmission, its full synthetic and is better than the "all purpose" oils from amzoil.

Hi,

Used one of the transmission filters on my 5speed, when I changed it, it was soked with all kinds of stuff, and not just oil. Much like I wiped from the bottom of the case. Haven't put on on my 4. 5 yet, probably will this summer.

I dredged this one up from the grave but only because I installed the filter today and noticed the instructions said to orient the "Top" of the filter depending on which way the gears in the transmission slung oil. They had a list of trannies and which way to install the filter correctly as you could install it either way but it depended on which way the gears turned and on which side of the transmission you installed it on.



SO... Which way is the correct way to install this filter? I think it needs to go on the drivers side because it would be pretty close to the exhaust pipe if you installed on the passenger side. Which way should the "Top" be? At the top or inverted? Even if it is in backwards, it will still do some filtering, just not as much.

I have the filter kit, and I installed in on the passenger side like the instuction from Geno's said. I trust the filter over a magnetic, I won't go into detail because its my opinion. When I installed the filter I also filled the transmission with Redline MTL. Day and night differences.

I got mine from Quad 4X4 in MT. It came with an extra filter & gaskets & an installation video. Since I'm not much of a mechanic, I thought the video might take some of the concern out of the install. Actually, the install is pretty simple & the video is not really needed. The kit & video was $61. 00 delivered.



Quad 4X4 recommends installing on the "passenger side to take maximum advantage of oil flow from between the counter rotating transmission shafts. To facilitate installation of the new filter, the word "TOP" is stamped on the outside surface of the cover housing and the transmission side of the inlet plate".



I've seen pictures of the filter, after use, & it was amazing how much junk was trapped in the filter. I think the filter is a great idea!!!



The filter is clamped or sandwiched inbetween the inlet plate & the cover housing. The inlet plate has a "louver" with the opening facing upward that collects some of the gear oil. The string woven filter is shaped like a hollow tube & is sandwiched in such a way that the louver flows the oil to the inside of the filter tube. The oil flows through the filter media & drains out a hole towards the bottom of the inlet plate & back into the transmission.



Quad 4X4 recommends changing the gear oil & filter every 25,000 miles or sooner if factory recommended.

Yes, the the Amsoil MTL and Redline MTL make an improvement for smoother shifting.

I'm not one for (Snake oils) but Peter @ South Bend said Redline MTL and Prolong. IMHO I trust what he says so I tried and it really works.

I have knot tried one of Geno's filters yet but they are intriguing. But do agree with the Redline MTL, very satified with the improved shifting enought to use it twice. 10,000 and 25,000.

I've never used a filter in the transmission
