NV5600 lost 6th gear, lots of rattling noises

Hey y'all, on the way to work this morning, I was accelerating, and heard a CLUNK, followed by no sixth gear. . 1-5 work fine, however even when parked there is lots of rattling noises, but stops when you push in the clutch and stop all the countershafts inside. Anyone have ideas?? I will be dropping the transmission asap to get fixed. Hopefully its nothing too bad. .

I've heard of the NV4500 loosing 5th gear, due to the nut backing off, but I've never heard of an NV5600 loosing 6th gear.



Since you have no signature, what year is your truck?

Well, I got the transmission out. . 2 gears are all but gone. . I will post pics later. . Also, the center hub on my FE was cracked in 3 places, as was one of the main springs. . Not sure how much it will cost to rebuild, but I need to get it done. . Will keep y'all updated

Chris, who are you going to use to rebuild the thing? Plan on around 3 big ones! Just put a dual disc in mine last week, so far so good.

I have a transmission guy down here that does good work, and does all the transmission BOMBing for our Central Texas Diesel club. . He quoted me around $800-1000 starting out. . When you say 3 big ones, do you mean 3 thousand?? I can buy a transmission cheaper than that. . Anyways, call me when you get a chance. .
