 I keep reading about changing fluid in this transmission, but it is not recommended or required on either schedule "A", or "B". What gives?!?

I changed mine at 40000 mi. Fluid that came out had a metalic look. Put MTL back in and shifting improved. I tow a 11000 lb 5er and even synthetics need to have a service schedual. JIM

Good question!!! Maybe they had a tree-hugger write the maintance schedule for the transmission and didn't want anyone to change their oil!?!?!

I changed mine with approx 6,000 miles on it and noticed a slight, but significant improvement in shifting quality. I would recomend it for that reason alone. I put "Penzoil synchromesh manual transmission oil" (its synthetic and very close if not exactly the same as the stock oil)

I drive approx 30,000 mi/ year and I will be changing it once a year as a prevenitive measure.

See http://www.klenger.net/dodge/general-reference/nv5600-fluid/index.html for info on NV5600 fluid.

I don't think the Penzoil is synthetic. I have never seen any claim to that. It does meet the DC spec. of MS-9224.

I changed mine at 15K and will probably change it every 30K after that. I find it interesting that the owner's manual recommends changing the read diff fluid every 15K, but no service ever for the NV5600. I suspect it is an oversight in the publication.

Anyone with a 2nd gen owner's manual that can check to see if it was listed there?
