I just finished changing the oil in my 2001 ETH's NV5600 transmission and I was only able to get 4 quarts into it through the 17mm fill plug before it started coming out. I was under the impression that it held closer to 6. I removed the PTO cover and got out as much oil as I could, so what's the story? Is there another way to get additional oil into it or is 4 all I'm gonna get. I don't have the additional capacity of the PTO cover with the cooling fins.

Thanks in advance,

Pat

I recently changed mine and found the same thing - 8 pints started coming back out hole. Jacked drivers side up as high as I could get and filled it really close to 9. 5 pints. 25K on rig. Shifting is more consistent and smooth now.

I used Mopar lube. Though it is expensive on a per quart basis, I figured I own a $38K truck (not what I paid, but that was sticker), and some things are just going to be more expensive for it.

How is your shifting after changing?

I got up to 5 before I read this going in through the PTO cover bolt. Guess I"ll put one more in. I bought the Mopar stuff also @ $10 a quart:eek:. The truck shifted good before, maybe a little stubborn at reverse and first once in a while. If it helps, great, if not I'm still happy with this transmission.

Thanks for the help fellas...
