Just pulled my trans for freshen up after 140K of killer pulling miles. Called the best trans shop in texas (won't say who but are in san antone) for shipping instructions and they said Whooah pardo, , don't send it now cause we don't have any synchro's for the NV5600 and don't expect to see any until maybe end of September. Can this be true? The trans manufacturer failed to anticipate spares requirements in the future? So Far I have not been able to locate a set of synchros for this trans and guess I'll stuff it back in the hole and wait till september. If anyone out there has a set stuck in thier sock drawer, post it here on the DTR and you'll get load of responses. :-{}

I don't know what transmission shop you consider best but the actual best one in Texas and one of the two best in the United States, the other one being Blumenthals in OKC, is Standard Transmission in Ft. Worth. Both had spare parts and were still overhauling NV-5600s the last time they were discussed here.

See the link Gary Ames posted above and call Standard. They do excellent work and treat their customers like you want to be treated. They rebuilt my NV-5600 several years ago.

Standard and Blumenthals are both TDR advertisers and well respected by everyone who has used them.

If neither one of them has the parts you can try Future Transmission at 615-895-4405. I would recommend Standard or Blumenthals first, then Future.

Getting mine done as I type this. Delivered the truck to Jesse Rodriguez Automatic Transmission in Fort Worth, TX They are doing the removal & clutch work.

Standard Transmission & Gear finished the overhaul this AM.
  • Couple of syncros (2nd & Reverse).
  • Shim to tolerance.
  • Build up pilot bearing spot on the input shaft & re-machine to spec.

Lift was on the ground just a few minutes ago so they are finishing the interior.

Update 05/18/2012:
Truck is done I'm quite pleased. Richard at Standard supervised the overhaul. I went with a dual media South Bend clutch. Launch is very smooth better than stock new. Well done to both facilities!

Should get the truck back, late today or tomorrow AM.
