Ok guys how hard are they to rebuild? Mine has about 200,000 mile on it and the syncros are going out. To many different people driving the truck ( it has turned in to our main tow vehicle so I handed it over to my employees). I picked up a rebuild kit from Highgear transmission for $351. 00. It came with Timkin bearings. Is there a good place to get a manual for this adventure?

Thanks in advance.

the factory service manual has a pretty good detailed rebuild guide... if you are google savvy, you "might" find the site where you can download the manual

Hey Mike, let me know what you find, supposedly you need a "special tool or jig" of some type to work on this thing. I have my original sitting at my buddies shop waiting for some free time to pull it apart and see what I destroyed, hopefully soon, as the one we put in seems to be having issues already too inside of a month!

I have been told there are two bearings in these transmissions that get burned up due to lack of lubrication. The inputshaft bearing has a hard time getting lube when going up hill and the main countershaft bearing always has a hard time getting lube ( I was told the fluid level is not high enough when properly serviced, just like the G56). I was told by Scott at Highgear transmissions to take the transmission case and the countershaft bearing race to a machine shop and have 3 or 4 holes drilled in them. Scott said they have yet to see one come back that they have done this to. For good prices on rebuild kits and good info go to Highgeartransmission.com and email Scott.

So should we be overfilling these NV5600's a little bit?

how much are you guys overfilling? I added 1/2 quart last week I am within 1/2 inch of my sight guage on my fast coolers? I thought if we over filled we would blow out seals?
