My shifting problems were, rougher than normal shifts, and it wouldn't go into gear from a stop. That gets frustrating and embarrassing at green lights. Right off the bat you think it's the clutch, but it wouldn't do it all the time. First trip to the dealer (truck is 2001, qc lb, built and delivered 2/00 24,000mi to date) I had the lift pump checked and replaced but the old "could not duplicate" came back on the shift problem. I drove it a few more months and got fed up, so back it went, this time they duplicated the problem (they probably drove it this time). They scratched heads and made phone calls, then "it must be the clutch and it's not covered under warranty", to that I say "BS, prove it". I don't tow regularly and I'm easy on the clutch, you can see that from the pictures, the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel all look almost new. The throwout and pilot bearing were in good shape. What they found was heavy grease from assembly on the input shaft and "collar" where the throwout bearing rides, they cleaned it up and slapped back together, I was skeptical but the dang thing goes into gear now and shifts better. Oh ya, I made them replace the pilot and throwout bearing just because, all under warrantee. I can't help but think that this grease, definitely from assembly, is causing other problems for someone. I hope I didn't leave anything out.
