I find that my transmission doesn't particularly like to be shifted into 1st while I'm still rolling along. Usually, when I attempt to do so there's an audible "clunk" when it goes into gear and the stick tends to push back at me at the same time as the clunk is heard. This is all below 5 MPH. It's as though the synchro isn't doing it's job.

Is this "normal" behavior for an NV5600 with 7500 miles on it?

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is a synchro on the granny first gear. I know that the best way to get mine into first is to be just barely creeping, or to throw quickly from second to first.

Thanks, guys. I feel much better now. I had a feeling it was just a characteristic of such a beefy transmission, but I wanted to make sure.

Yes, first gear in the NV5600 is synchronized, but that poor little synchro is spinning a lot of mass (clutch disk, input shaft & gears, etc. ) up to a pretty high speed at any road speed above 2 or 3 MPH. That's why the resistance in going into first when moving.
