Have one on my second genner, but they will leak if not done right, had it in the shop twice to fix the leak(shop warranty),after about 3 month it would start leaking again even with a gasket. Got fed up and did it myself with some good sealant,surprize,surprize---no more leaks, BTW, love the shorter throw, its a keeper to me. My 2 cents. ---DW

Do a search on them, been covered quite extensively in the past. Been thinking of getting one for my beast again.

I have one and love it. Dweiler is absolutley correct about the leaks, make sure you take your time and do a quality install. The only thing that chaps me about the shorty is the price. When I purchased it was $185, and now I believe they are over $200. Trust me when I say that's a lot of dough for what you get. But on the other hand I wouldn't be without one... ridiculous, I know.

Buyer beware. Like the earlier post said. Do a search, or search on me. Bad customer service... ... ... ...

I was considering one for my 03, until one day I took out the stock shifter complete with the ball lined up, and I bent it until the 5th gear is where 3rd used to be (or maybe even between 1st and 3rd), and just a hair closer to the console.

I bent it in a press, between wood blocks, and it bent where the diameter is reduced. I stopped when the upper rod (which did not bend) was in-line with the taper angle on one side. Turned out perfect. I can reach it so easily, and the length is just right for my 6'2" height. Haven't missed a shift since. The ball points in a more natural direction too.

All you do is pry out the vinyl boot from the floor console with a knife, then hold the rod and the shaft with a wrench/vise grip. Keep the ball on so you know which way to bend it, and how much to torque it back on.

I also removed the ball afterwards, and tightened it on as far down as it goes, unti it almost hits the cover. It shortened the lever about half an inch, and the throw.

I love mine. takes a bit more effort to switch gears but you dont notice it after the first few minutes of driving. I did the short shifter on my 05 in under an hour. I have pictures of the install if you need them. The instructions are pretty poor so if you have any questions let me know.

i am very happy with mine... it did take a little time to relearn driving with the new shorter shift pattern, but i would not get rid of it... the kit comes with some rtv gasket maker but i didn't use that. i used dowcorning 824 silicone. that is awsome gasket stuff when you use it correctly [everything must be clean, and you need to give it time to dry before letting oil come incontact with it [at work we use it, and where we use it, it is recomended to dry for 8 hours before oil contact, although we usually get oil into the housings within 2 hours]

No fair!!!

My shifter didnt come with RTV sealer. I used some transmission gasket maker from mopar that I had left over from my old truck. No issues no leaks. I sugest putting the shift tower together and put the bolts through it then place the entire tower onto the transmission instead of reassembling piece by piece like instructions say to. It will make things alot cleaner and much easier to get the holes to line up.
