I called Geno's Garage today and was told the K-1444 Filter Kits for the NV5600 six speed transmission are not available. A good transmission parts supplier that carries Eaton filters (p/n 11456 ?) and also said these also are not acquirable (or) available.

I would like to install one of these PTO cover plate splash filters and would appreciate hearing where I can buy one. Does anyone know where I can buy one? Thanks for your help.

Funny, was at my buddies shop today and saw two filters on the shelf from Quad. I asked if I could scam one and he said one was mine, apparently I had him order me one a few years ago when Quad fixed his NV4500 Oo.

I'm reviving this old thread because I'm ready to replace the pto filter I i stalled on My nv5600 a few years ago. Does anyone know of any current sources for the filters? Quad still lists the kits but shows no stock on filters.

I would call Genos. They have stuff not shown online. Example, I stopped seeing the westach combo gauge online, so I called and they have it.

Let us know what you find out. I searched EBay and found nothing. I had one left over from Quad that I used last year, would be nice to have another spare.

I will call around including a couple local sources then post my findings. Next decision is what lube to put back in. When I installed the filter kit a few years ago, I used the Pennsoil Syncromesh. Not sure if I want to catch it and reuse, or switch to Royal Purple or somethi g else. I have a NV5600.

Edit: Geno's shows a filter service kit online and it appears available. If it is, I will get two...and then decide on what oil to use.
I've read all the write-ups and none of the available lubes is a consensus favorite. I may go Amsoil unless it costs double. Royal Purple is also an option and the parts house nearest my shop just started carrying a Valvoline product that meets the spec.

Geno's still show it on their site. You think you might reuse your oil?

I've been using Redline MTL fluid for many years now and have been very happy with how my 5600 has shifted with it.
Good to know Genos still has filter kits!

Would you reuse your engine oil?

To clarify, my trans oil has less than 10k on it. I installed the pto filter to help clean up the high mile transmission and I figure it's about time to be changed, but I can't imagine that the oil would be worn out after 3 years/ 10k.
I suppose a change is in order, but mostly to use a better oil than last time.
I hadn't thought about redline. What is a good source?

It's not that it is worn out, but it needs changed to flush out the contaminates, the filter didn't do much. The filter is not sealed or pressure fed, it just hangs out in the transmission oil so the contamination can just come and go around the filter. Don't forget the magnet in the bottom, clean it off and mop out as much oil as you can.

If you are cleaning out a high mile trans you may as well change the oil as the filter doesn't catch everything. Note the oil in this transmission shears down quickly due to the fact all the gears are always spinning. 50K miles is pushing it on the oil. Even AMSOIL shears down in this transmission. So your oil may not be worn out, but, to obtain your goal of cleaning out the transmission new oil will help.

After the filter kit has been run for about ten thousand miles change the oil and filter and then the filter will keep the oil clean for about 2 years is the longest I've ever went and the oil was just starting to get a tint of black to it .
