NY diesel cars??

Has anyone heard if or why there are no new diesel cars in new york? I was looking at the diesel jetta info and it is available in other states ( maybe not commiefornia). How could I get one in state legally? Or do I need to put a 4BTA in an old mercedes diesel? Info would help. Thanx

Just have the dealer trade for an out of state one. My brother wanted a VW Golf TDI, and there weren't any available in state. Near as we could tell that was because VW doesn't make many for the US and they were long sold. So the local VW dealership took a gasser Jetta (or something) they had on the lot, trucked it to Maine, traded it for a Golf TDI there, and trucked the Golf back. Pretty simple. Great car. We're near Rochester, BTW.

There are a bunch of diesel jettas at the dealers in Buffalo and Rochester. I just test drove one the other day. They are harder as there is some sort of quota set up for the diesels and the only can get a certain number. If you go to the VW site they have dealer listing with corprate websites that give an exact inventory of all the individual dealers. You will definitely find one around. The other thing is VW has stoped production on 2002s and we won't see the 03s until the beginning of august so the dealers are probably running a little low on everything.

since nov 2000... . you can buy new ,reg new , own new diesel vw in nystate. . there is no quta rule any more in ny or california!. . so go buy one. . local dealer to you hudson valley volkswagen has some on the lot... . you may have to drive out of state to ge tthe exact color and option you want . . we had to get ours from maine because the two dealers kept fighting over who was gonna sell what ha. . any they is no tdi / nys conflict .

Hi Rabbittree!

Just signed on for a new on the lot 2002 jetta GLS with the good radio and the sunroof package. 5 Speed manual trans. Good performance/pickup. The low HP number is decieving. Just like a good diesel the power/torque is made low in a usefull area. Definitely do not need to wind it out. Thanks for the tip. Dealer right next door and I did not know diesels were available.

cool. . congrates on the car!. . when you get it we'll have to get to together you got to do at least one mod as a must the crank case breather is vented into the intake manifold. bad bad bad!

the oli vapor in the crank case vent mixes with the egr dust in the intake and creates a sludge that will clug uip your intake and head... believe me i know. . my fiances car was getting residue at just 2000 miles!. . so i did a regular crank case vent like on our cummins. . vent the factory valve cover vent to the atmosphere with a blow down tube etc , and plug the intake hole... easy and simple the tdi engine i got that im rebuilding had only 20,000 miles on it and the intake and the head were really built up with this sludge. . when i ported the head i still couldn't reach it all ha so still some in there... you can check out my fiances car it has the upsolute chip... . big big difference!. . only $300 bucks best deal ... ... . in the world... and the muffler was removed . . it is not loud but the turbo spool up is much faster and its nice to hear the turbo whistle out side the car... so give me a ring im th eonly Deo Read in the phone book and i think i gave you my phone # already. . cool oh yeah checkk out www.tdiclub.com!

one of the guys i met at last summers quaker city ohio diesel drags . . tdi ray he just dynoed his tdi golf 145hp and 310ftlbs at the wheels pretty good huh... ??!

I had one of those VW bug diesels drive past me in a parking lot the other day... cool. If you could get that little bugger to 145 Hp I think it would fly... ... .
