I'm looking to have a NV5600 (2001) rebuilt due to a 3rd gear synchro problem and am looking for a shop that is capable of working on this transmission. I can supply the synchros and bearings for the rebuild, but need a competent shop to perform the work. Thanks in advance for any assistance with this. Matt

You could try Saunders Transmissions in Argyle, NY 518-638-8838, They've been in business for over 30 years and they are the only place that I would bring my truck for transmission work. Call them and see if they've done any 5600's. I had them put the clutch in my truck because I didn't have a garage at the time, when they went to put the input shaft in it didn't have the proper fit and they ended up having to put some shims in the transmission, most places would've just bolted it up and called it a day.

Tim,

Thank you, I called Saunders and they quoted me an excellent price to remove, overhaul, and reinstall a NV5600. The price they quoted was less than half of what I was quoted by 2 other shops. Thank you for the info, I think that I will be using them to do the work, even though I live in southern NJ right now. Matt

Let me know if you need a ride or a place to hang out, they are pretty close to me. If you have the transmission out and want to ship it let me know, I could help you with delivery. Glad to be of help.

Thank you for the offer. I have family about 2 hours away. Saunders says it should be 2 or 3 days to remove, overhaul, and re install the transmission, so I'm not sure if I would stay locally or go stay with family. I believe it was Rodney(sound right?) that I spoke too, he seemed very knowlegdable, so I am thinking I would have them do the upgraded pilot bearing and a new clutch too. Thanks again for the recomendation, I'm pretty sure they are going to get my business
