Shipping truck to cross country

Alright guys, I just moved here about 6 months ago and have some questions about the inspection BS. My 05 has no muff and 5" stacks, but right now has the kitty and I am planning on getting rid of that too. With either setup will it pass? (Never been inspected as it still has SC tags)

Also, on my new 01, I am getting prices on new muffler less 4" turbo back exhaust. Will it pass like that?

I have a Smarty on the 05 and plan on keeping the 01 stock other than an intake and the exhaust and already know to turn the other back to stock before taking it in.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

NYS Inspections are only a pain if your in Rockland, Westchester or further to NYC (Emissions). I am in Orange and its a $10?or $14 "SAFETY" inspection. Just went In January and no prob. I would just go to a local shop and be friendly and they won't bust your balls about the -mufflers and other stuff.

Thanks man. I am in Clinton County. I can't believe the difference in price for inspection though. I had to pay $21 for the 01 I just bought.

yeah, last year was $10, no emmissions check, just the safety portion of the check, (lights, horn, seatbelts, wipers, ect. ) sorry to hear you had to move here. :D. you have no clue what you are in for. get that wallet open.

Funny thing related to emissions tests in NYS. The NYS DMV thinks my truck is a gasser. Somehow back in '01 a code on my VIN must have gotten messed up. As such I have a gasser VIN. When they instituted gasser emissions test, the shop got got confused because the computer indicated that the emission test was required for my vehicle. They typed some sort of exemption code into the computer it is spit out a form I have to sign (essentially acknowledging the fact that the shop overrode the system).

This past December when I had the truck inspection, a "recall notice" came across the inspection system for my truck. Basically the DMV has finally figured out the VIN is messed up.

Sometimes DMV workers / dealerships don't realize on trucks they need to register it at the GVWR not what the vehicle weighs. If that happens it doesn't need the emissions inspection :D

When I had my tool rental business on LI, we had an '88 E350 with the 7. 3 engine. It was originally titled as a gas vehicle- no problem until diesel emission testing came along. I had to go to DMV and have the title amended to pass inspection.

has anyone seen or heard of a 2500 or 3500 with the square inspection sticker affixed to the front bumper, like on a dump truck, fire truck, or other heavy duty commercial rig? is it legal here? i'd be willing to do that if it was, i dont like those gaudy oversized stickers all over my windshield. and i use the term "sticker" loosely, as many of you are aware they don't stick to 'nuthin. . the only downside to having a bumper sticker would be at first glance, the police would think you didn't have a valid NYSI, if they didn't see it on the front, and could pull you over, thus opening up the floodgates for whatever other infractions you may have...

Get used to the sticker anything you do to make your truck eligible for the heavy duty inspection would empty your wallet out

Here in 5 boroughs my 06 $37. Hooked up to computer and reved up with tailpipe emissions test. Mine is stock except muffler delete and passed with ease but not sure about no cat and more miles, mine is 12000. No visual where I go.

if your friendly with the shop tell them to put the gvw @ 8500lbs. and theres no emmisions... ... heavy truck inspection sticker has to be affixed to a non removable part of the vehicle, a bumper is not acceptable and can land u a ticket... rumer has it that next year new machines will be required with obd port hookup. so this might be moot by next year

From my understanding, they are doing the OBD hook up here as of now. The service manager was saying if there were any codes at all on the 01 it wouldn't have passed until they found what was causing the codes and it was fixed, emmissions or otherwise.
