Has anyone dealt with "John the Diesel Man" at NY Diesels? I saw some unsavory descriptions in other Cummins forums and wondered if anyone here could give first hand feedback. Thank you.

Looking at a truck there but it is a long way from me (10+ hours) His website is kind of obnoxious, but the trucks look decent.
If you have any experience with NYDiesels/FastLane DIesel I would really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.

The guy has a great camera and hides the rust real well. I stopped by there a few years ago and the trucks look nice until you look close, fender flares hiding big rust holes, quickie paint jobs, that sort of thing. I have seen the horror stories on several websites, most of them are true.
Google "Southern Image Auto" in Oswego NY. They have a lot of nice southern trucks and make things right. Friend of mine bought a '96 Cummins truck there and they put in a new starter and batteries to get it to start good for him.

No first hand experience, but I've seen lots of ads for mid west diesel on Craigslist over the last few years and I'm sure there about the same idea. Kinda seems like a risky idea to buy from a place like these. All the trucks seem to be high mileage and some of the cleanest paint I've ever seen. The one thing that bothers me the most is generally the trucks are pictured with those huge steal bumpers. IMO I'd buy local and private party. I helped my father look at used dealer ship trucks and found nothing but scary stuff.
