Competition O-ring and fire rings

How does one keep those thick fire rings in the head when sitting the head down on the block? Or you just lay it on the HG and hope nothing moves when ya sit it down eh?



I got fire rings in the block, studs, no issues, but only 50psi from sp66 and lotsa timing.

the head gasket/dowels will locate the fire rings (I asked this question just a couple days ago and got learned )

We use a 105 fire ring with a 120 groove cut into the block about 31 thousanths deep,been way past 100 pounds of boost,we have never had a fire ring or head gasket failure. thats with the little ARP studs torqued to 145 lbs. If you put them in the head we just use a little grease to hold them in until the head is on.

In a word, superglue. You'd never get them down straight any other way. I actually start a few studs with the head still an inch off the block before I lower it down to line things up.
