I already have a complete VE gasket kit that I only used that o ring out of, and of course my "new" truck has the common leak by the throttle shaft. Any automotive o ring should be fine, as long as its the right size, right?
I wouldn't trust an automotive 0-ring, it might not stand up to the diesel. It might need more than an o-ring. On a lot of these trucks the shaft and/or the bushing wear out. I was lucky, I only needed the o-ring. When you get it apart, check the shaft play.
In my original post I stated I already have a complete VE seal/gasket kit minus one o ring, did it on my last truck . I have the upgraded bushing laying around also, bought it for the first truck and didn't need it. This leak happened on 2 trucks of mine that sat/sit a lot, maybe that has something to do w/ it? Who knows, its always a good excuse to put a 366 spring in there anyways
The local pump shop might sell you the one you need. Depends on how friendly they are. I use the shop my company uses, so I don't have any problems. You might want to get 2, then you will have a complete kit.
