O ringing head

Will someone give a ballpark price on o-ringing the head with install? I am getting ready (money wise) to have it done and I am just getting "ready" for it! THANKS

I believe PDR charges 600 plus gasket installed. 300 for the o-ringing and 300 for the labor.

Machine shop around here is doing just the oringing on mine for 12 bucks a hole, so thats 72 bucks for the oringing.

TFL. . there are several way to achieve O-Ringing... just the head, head and block,head with receiver groove in block,double receiver groove with double O-Ring ala block and head 1 each, studs replacing head bolts, thicker gasket, stock gasket , copper casket thicker... ...



many options... . but Matts #'s are in the ball park

O-Ring can be done inframe

C Ring. . block out as it's done with boring bar. . [but IMHO could be done with same type of maching as the o-ring,,would just take forever and might not be as "true" as a bar job. ]

IMHO - if you're going to cut a groove in the block, then it should not be an in-frame operation. What prevents all the shavings from going down into the bore?



Talk more about the c-rings.....



What kind of HG do you need to run?

Where do you get 'em?

Who has done this to a 6BT?

Are they 'streetable'?



BTW, I thought booze could make any bar so that it isn't boring?!

I have two systems to control that. You are wrong, the block does not have to come out of the frame.

I prefaced that statement with an "IMHO" (In My Honest Opinion).



It's up to each individual that reads my statement whether or not they want their block to be machined while it's still in the truck.



I'm not wrong - I just hold a different opinion.



Besides, if I'm machining my block - I would want to take a look at all the other goodies inside that big chunk of iron.

hehe i once ported a head while on the engine in a vw also clearanaced a overhead cam vw head for a larger cam ,while on the engine !. . nothing duct tape, rags, paper towels a lot of grease, and a shop vac couldn't handle... .

ha back in the days...

on the subject of o rings i beleive manley makes a o ring groove tool for like $ 200 bucks it orings the block... seems liek enterprise does the block and not the head . . any input. . i',m about to do something like that soon so i might invest in the tool do my cummins and my vws etc hehe. . any infor on a torque plate manufactor for boring our b series? or is that a fabricate it your self deal?

Torque plates are available for our engines.



The O-ring tool I had built will ring the head and the deck. We would need to discuss the rest off the TDR. Rules you know.
