I have noticed that the higher the SW# on smarty the more the transmission hunts for the right gear. In and out of lockup and in and out of 2-3 ,3-4 the lighter the throttle imput is the worse it is. I have noticed it is worse on the higher # than the lower ones do to the lighter throttle required.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I have to drive a bit more aggresive and kick od off until I hit 50mph to prevent this.

Your VB needs some attention. Call your trans guy.

Some trans people warn about this, as the improved fueling for the smarty and other programmers create a lowered throttle pressure (by fueling earlier) and this can lead to shifting problems and frans failure!

I'm having the same problem right now. The trucks in the shop now. The trans hunts for a shift from 3 rd to overdrive. What should I tell my trany gut to do? Thanks

I wouldn't rule out what bob said, but I would lean towards the increased fueling that the smarty does is the issue. I beleive Marco has even said that he is giving full fuel by 1/2 throttle. Guys have reported how responsive their trucks are. YOu can veryify that your throttle cable is adjusted right, and you might even make it tight and see if it takes care of the gear hunt. Just becareful if you get it too tight you don't push too hard on the accelerator. If this doesn't work you can try dropping the pan and replacing the govenor pressure solenoid. Typically the govenor pressure senders either work or they don't. If tweaking the cable fixes it, you could change your throttle valve spring. Especially when you say that on the higher settings it is worse leads me to beleive that it is a to touchy throttle issue.
