First tank with ALL around town traffic awarded 15. 5 MPG. Was hoping for more but i'm guessing it's about average. will eval highway mileage on vacation in spring. my 99 never got below 16 anywhere with rare occasions up to 25 on the freeway.

transmission does a lot of shifting around when passing under hard exceleration. I'm worried about this one for when i put on the 33. 5" toyo mt's.

I am in love with Tow/Haul mode. downshifts are cool and converter stays locked to 18-20 MPH when coming to a stop.

torque converter must go as soon as the warranty is gone..... sooo d@mn mushy. this thing would be really peppy with a tighter TC. would probably net similar results as a mild box.

pretty peppy for a stocker but again, i'm on little pizza cutters pumped to 70 PSI in the front, 50 in the rear.

Rides like a bowl of jello and bottoms out in the front while easing over speed bumps. not worried about this one. Kore, Carli, or Lorenz going in as soon as they start back to work after the holidays.

center console is too far away for me to safely place my coffee down while in traffic. ash tray is useless... ... i have cut down on smoking while driving. i kept getting in these awkward situations where i didn't know what to do with my cigarette and didn't have enough hands to handle the situation with the little coin purse with a lid they gave me for an ashtray located 4 feet from the driver. burnt my fingers a few times... ... but not the seat..... yet.

i love all the rest of the interior. supposed to go back for leather... ... think i'll take the $1500 refund and stick with the cloth. stereo is sufficient although true audiophiles will be disappointed.

a few little ticks and hums i'm not used to yet and am not sure where they originate yet... ..... i'm on em though. i think the tick is an injector or valve train and the hum is that aluminium shield on the tank.

tail light lenses... ..... i actually think they're growing on me. didn't like the head lights at first either but like em now. still think second gens are better looking trucks.

not sure what anyone can say here... ... just sharing, jeff

Mine is an 06 QC SRW LB 3. 73 4wd BH Edition. LOVE THIS MOTOR and truck. Have 2500 mi on the ticker.

Biggest likes for me are:

TOW HAUL MODE (like you). I have only hauled my camper once, about 100 mi, but it was a dream. I have a heavier camper, too. Motor was effortless.

I am actually in Sun Valley, ID right now after travelling from Seattle. This truck cruises like a dream on the hwy. I love the sound from the motor, how the truck tracks (smoothly), steering is tight and precise. Cruise control works great, and I like the ergonomics of the controls.

Satellite radio is sweet

We have tons of snow out here in Idaho, and I've been using the 4WD a LOT. Shifting to/from is a dream. Very nice shifter feel going from 2 to 4wd. Notchy, but I like it that way. Instant light on/off. I was worried I would want the electronic shift on the fly, but I'm glad I DON'T have it now. Manual shifting, man style!

Lot's of other LIKEs, but that's all for now.

Dislikes: radio: I have the four speaker stocker single CD radio. Sound is barely adequate, but decent. I don't like to NOT have a remote control for the radio, or better sound for that matter. I pulled my system from my '97 to go into this truck, so the aftermarket stereo is going in soon!

Oh, one other dislike is the upholstery. Seems like it will spot/stain a lot since I have the gray cloth. Seems like it shows little spots a lot. Seems like it will clean easy, too, however. Will be putting in seat cover for the driver's seat, maybe the pass. too.

Enjoy that truck!

yes i am happy with it as well... ... . guess i could have mentioned that. i certainly looked at a lot of vehicles from honda civics to the new gmc sierra to even dmax and PSDs... ... the dodge even with the bugs i was worried about is the best choice by far. hell, i even looked at a hyundai... ... . actually not a bad little car. had to stick with the cummins though.

take care, jeff

You were actually choosing between a Cummins Dodge Truck and a Honda Civic?????? Isn't that totally opposite ends of the automobile measuring stick?

you are correct sir,

i really don't NEED a truck at all as all i haul are snowboards and mountain bikes. occasionally i'll tow a boat or TT for a friend but that's usually just cause i feel like towing while they'd still have other options if i didn't. i was considering being "sensible" with the purchase of my next vehicle... ...

... . i got over it though.

'07 observations

The seat material definitely needs upgrading. I've got material swatches coming from Marathon Seat Covers. Really a polite ,helpful owner. I'm confident in his product. Going to have pockets added front and back. I put similiar covers on my '99 from birth and seats are like new aside from the sag. Weathertechs on the way also. I'm definitely seeking out a 7th gear with the g-56,but my 1700# popup will compensate for that. Overall, quantum leap in steering and braking over the 2nd's,but the 2nd's rule in the looks department.

morning dave. gonna go to the autoshow at the convention center here in a bit..... wanna go?

keep me posted on the seat thing. i happy with the seats for now but always interested in cool stuff.

i'm surprised you don't like em. i know there's 2 different cloth materials available. Yes Essentials and something else. i have the essential stuff and like it. not as much as leather but good enough for now. what did you get?

jeff

I got the yes essentials fabric. It does seem sturdy but the light grey color isn't going to hide stuff. We went to the show yesterday. It was fun but no 6. 7's to look at. Weathertech mats are unbeatable. Wall to wall coverage and perfect fit.

just got back from the show. they had a C/C truck with the 6. 7 with the hood down. i just looked to see if anyone was watching and popped the hood. took about 2 seconds for a small crowd of guys to gather. i think they were waiting for me to do it as i was probably looking a little suspicious when casing the joint.

engine looks the same except for the EGR equipment, different intake plenum, and the exceedingly complicated exhaust plumbing. it does declare that it is 6. 7 on the valve cover that otherwise looks just like ours. had the hood open for about 10 minutes before a rep came a shut down the show.

i was going to try my stunt with the ford truck. i wanted to see the twins. i made the mistake of asking which truck had the twins and they never took their eyes off me after that. i hate looking like trouble. finally just asked them to lift the hood... . no go. pricks..... it's a friggin auto show... . SO SHOW. i let em know my opinions on that. they didn't care.

holy smokes the new camaro was cool. the challenger was pretty nice as well. there was the new corvette right next to the camaro and it was totally ignored by the crowd. poor fella.

walking down the national city mile of cars would get you the same show for free.

except the camaro and challenger.

all the custom stuff was the same as last year.

lots of hot moms though... . that made it worth the trip.

jeff

Da show.

That might of been the one I sat in with utility bed and ST interior. Hood was down and I didn't see anything inside or out to distinquish it from a 5. 9 but then I was distracted by the moms too. At least raising the hood produced some reps. They were nowhere in sight when we were there. Sprinter 4x4 camper conversions were pretty neat

that's the truck. there were no markings, but i knew it had to be 6. 7 cause it was a C/C truck.
