Well after a year of pondering wheather to
get the M/T Classic II, I went down to the big 4x4 get together in Lima last weekend and bought a set. National Tire and Wheel gave me a GREAT price on the rims and BFG/AT.
Their service cannot be beat. .
Now with that said, on to what I've noticed
after installing said rims.
First, the finish is beautiful, top rate polishing job, smoother than a 16 year olds behind and very little weight used for balancing..... But, there is NO clearcoat
protective coating on the rims, so if you even LOOK crosseyed at said rims, they mark
and stain. (and yes, I knew this when I bought them. ) Even something as mild as
Westleys Bleach White (for the raised white letters) do a nasty job of staining into the polished surface. Fore warned is fore armed!
The other observation is the location of the valve stem. I've got the 8x16 rims and the stem (a short one) is sticking out to
just PAST the rim lip. . Quite a vunerable
spot for a valve stem. . I can see a rock or piece of wood easly damaging it or ripping it off... ...
(the 10x16 would have a more recessed valve stem though)
Would I buy them again for my truck? Probobly not. Their a good rim from a good company and they look GREAT on my truck, but in this case, "you get what you pay for"!!!
This rambling is just to help inform those folks who are pondering a purchase like mine.
As a side note, my truck rides 100% better
now that the steel rims are off. At 105 MPH
it's as smooth as at 60 MPH. (could never get the steel rims balanced completly)
