Yet another reason to check over your axles!

I dont do alot of towing but will be towing a 5000# trailer some this summer, should the OD always be off for this.

I think that would depend on. .

* how fast you plan on going

* what gears you have

* and the tire diameter



For example if your gears are 3. 54 and those 315's are 34. 6 tall + you plan on towing at 55 mph then I would turn it off cuz your rpm's in drive locked should be in the neighborhood of 1850. I would think you would want to stay in the 1600 to 2000 rpm range.
 
Thanks for the replys, it does jump around at 55 so I stay on it till it hits 65 & it does fine. guess thats normal & shut it off in the 55 range, temp gauge next.
