Going to take to TRE Diesel Performance, Tim Barber out of VA Beach, VA. He built it eons ago and not only am I tired of messing with it but don't have place or time to work on it and will need it to help with moving in the next few weeks. Thanks

Did you ever swap out for the DNJ unit? Advised in the ATSG manual. View attachment 126202
Thanks Bill, mentioned this to Tim (original Trans builder/owner TRE Diesel Performance) when I dropped off truck Monday (1/18/2021) and he said that's older technology and they've been using a Borg-Warner (I think that's what he said) unit for quite some time. Anyway, truck is in good hands now (Tim was the last person, outside of; myself, tire shop for new tires, front end alignment shop, my buddy's shop for state inspections and paint/metal shop, to ever touch my truck. Just don't trust that anyone will "take care of her" the way I would, anyhow) and I'm positive he'll take care of her and resolve all/any issues before calling me, unless he needs my OK to dig deeper into the pockets. Just hope I don't hit lint if/when he calls. LOL. More to come.

I've been re-reading some back issue of the TDR Magazine lately. Transient issues like this were brought up multiple times through Issue 90, which was Nov/Dec/Jan 2014/2015. Many of them turned out to be voltage spikes caused by the alternator. The mainline from the alternator ran through the same wire loom as a whole bunch of other circuits, including one or two that controlled the automatic transmission. Cutting into the loom (carefully!) and removing the alternator's mainline to run separately cleared up the problems.

I had a related issue with a 1983 AMC Concord with a 258 CID inline six. The ignition system went berserk at unpredictable times. The berserkness included the stepper motors on the 2 barrel BBD carburetor. Removing one set of wires and turning them into a twisted pair solved that problem. And allowed me to focus on others. Which were all solved by converting to a HEI ignition system from a 1979 Chevy pickup truck. But I digress.

Hey Matt42, thanks for your reply. Back eons ago when I had the trans done there was a DTT Trans Noise Suppressor/Eliminator that the trans builder (Tim) installed. I've checked the setting/reading of the suppressor and it was dead on whatever ohms/volts it was supposed to be. I had, long before the trans was built, installed the alternator noise suppressor/eliminator (not connected as is the DTT unit). So I'm relying on Tim to figure this out, I'm sure he will. I know there's a "thermistor" (pretty sure that's what the FSM refers to it as) that senses trans fluid temps and is "not" serviceable as it is located inside either the Solenoid or Transducer whatever (I forget which) its called, which I've changed a years back when the funky "when cold" shifting began.

Thanks again for your reply.
