Odd smell in cab

So for the last few months i have had an intermittent smell in the truck. It smells like very strong hot glue or maybe melting plastic. I would just go to the dealer but it is to hit or miss to just take it to them. Also i nothing seams to trigger it it just happens. I cant make it happen. And when you have the smell in the cab you cant smell it out side the cab under the truck or under the hood. It also is there even with the hvac to recirculate. Has anyone else had a similar smell? It is really getting annoying. Thanks for any help.

Hey Will, If memory serves me right you have an 05 right? If it was a 2nd Gen I would say headlight switch or a pinhole in the evaporator as ester oil has that smell ... at first :-laf then goes to #ad

Yes 05 with the g56 tranney. So a late 05. Anyone else with any ideas?

The only experiance I have had with your mentioned symptoms ended up being a leak in the evaporator for the A/C system.

I hope that this is not the case as it is a real bear to change-out the evaporator on these trucks (my total time to re & re was 11. 5 hrs )
