Odd truck noises!

8/4/07 driving 4-miles home, a howling, whining, sounding like something rattling within the hubcap/wheel. Took her out Sunday morning same sound pretty loud, but I keep driving, all the noise went away after 7-miles of surface street driving, (air tempeture in low 90's) I keep driving to warm-up engine, then got on the freeway. I checked around the engine with running/idle/ high rev, looked under the truck, appled brakes, the sound did not change, I did not find anything. Rig has been normal since driven 100+miles... I know it's difficult to trouble shoot in cyberspace, but let me know what y'all think, or if you have heard the same noises

I would check the wheel bearings first. Jack it up and give the wheels a good shake to see if it's loose. I can't think of anything else. I've never had bad wheel bearings make a "rattling" noise as you've described.
