Took my 3500 in for its 100k service, had some small issues to be taken care of, few gearbox oil changes/etc..

Dealer called, said truck was ready, but the odo display (3x4 white display, center of gauge cluster) had died, possibly when the tech was scannin it or something.

Luckily its covered under my warranty, but it has me askin, what could have zapped the system to cause the failure, and has anyone ever heard of this display failing?

This is the first trip to this particular dealer.

Thanks

Dont know. Mine is a 13' and I am beginning to believe I need to take mine in for cluster and dash issues. Its happening more often. when I start it up, sometimes the exhaust brake and other buttons on that area will not work for several minutes. Other times, as soon as it starts, they work. Now I notice when they dont work, they come on right after the door locks click in at 15 mph.

Can you imagine trying to tell a service guy this? They will treat me like the girl next door.. Not to mention, the dealer 2 miles from me will not answer my calls anymore after transmission issues.( He got peeved at me for knowing more about flashes and recalls then he did...Asked me, "where do you get all this info from?"). LOL. Now its a 60 miles round trip to the nearest dealer, as the one 2 miles from me owns ALL Dodge dealerships within 20 miles of my home.....LOL

My 13 has done the No E break at start since new. Seems that some times the computer forgets to turn on the switches (E break, traction control) my guess it's a window's based op system like the laptop I'm using to write this sometime it works great some times it wakes on the wrong side.... Lol

My dash EVIC doesn't turn on at engine start sometimes, I believe it's a temperature related problem. Just making a 'list' of issues before going to the dealer for the fixes.

@ EDankievitch, did you have your speedo re-calibrated/re-flashed for the 285/70-17 tires? I plan on getting a set of Nitto's when these firestones wear out as that will give me over 3500lbs a tire.

Never had a fault with it in the past, it was kinda sluggish when truck was below 20F tho.

Dont really like takin my truck to the dealer, but its the only way to exercise my warranty, and work is way too busy at the moment to take the truck down for a few days in the shop

Hope I dont have a gremlin waiting for me in 10k miles. Sigh.

Its no big deal. But I want to create a paper trail in case it becomes something down the road I can say it was taken in at 15k for blah blah.

Picked up truck yesterday, display started working again.. Never had a fault in the past, dealer must have let the gremlin out..

They have a new cluster on order, will be taking it in later this week

Yes, I had the dealer re set the speed-o for the 285's that tire size is in the system already so it's just a matter of the Tec opening up the right page on his computer and changing the tire size. You don't have to calculate the pinion off set ( rev/miles) like on the older trucks. I installed the Firestone Destination AT's on I'm really pleased with how well they are wearing and how they are in the snow/ ice and best of all they are quiet. While not an off road tire (how much off road do most of us really do?) they are well worth the price.
