odometer intermittent 2003 2500

The odometer is off, gear shift indicator is on. The odometer is intermittent. A soldering iron was used on the 2 rows of pins to make sure that no cold solder joints were causing the problem. No change.
Any help would be appreciated.

Doesn't sound good. I have a friend who took his '03 in for some kind of a transmission problem. Long story short, they threw a lot of parts and labor at it, and the fix turned out to be something minor. But in the process they replaced his instrument cluster. And in doing that they had to send the cluster to Dodge somewhere so the exact mileage could be programmed into the odometer on the new cluster. Took a week to get it back. I never knew it would be such a big deal, but I guess things are different for electric/computerized parts. Hope your problem is a lot simpler to fix...

Excellent link. My tachometer has been out since about 4 yrs into ownership, and this will solve the issue. Much better than purchasing a new cluster, or fumbling around with a soldering iron.

Smog checked?? Where do you live? In Texas, if it starts, stops, and honks, it passes. Diesels that is.

Last time I got inspected the guy drove 20' from the parking lot into the bay. Never tried to honk the horn. Passed. $7.50 American. God bless Texas...and John Wayne.
