Anybody know the part number for the gear that drives the odometer?

Speedo works but no odometer. Makes following directions interesting to say the least. Lets see... 4. 5 miles at 35 MPH... ooh 25 MPH... . no 30 MPH... ..... Aaaagh!!!

I had the same problem and it was diagnost (sp) as unrepairable. It has to do with the electronics on the rear of the head (speedo). Fellow member Wayno was successful having his fixed, but not sure if his problem was the same as ours. I ordered a dash from a out of state wrecking yard and used the speedo head.

P. S. On mine the speedo worked but the mileage (odometer??) did not work. Most folks would kill to have this problem (not rolling miles) but I used mine incase the fuel gauge gave it up, I had a mileage idea of when I should start hunting a fuel stop.

sgriffing,

I have the same problem with my 90 (not sure if speedo is the same). Broke a tooth off of the little ble gear that drives the odo. Tried several gauge rebuilders and no one would sell one to me. Their story is that there is something binding up in the odo, and that it would strip out a new gear as soon as it was installed. I was told the whole head needed rebuilding/calibration. I didn't believe it at first, but after hearing it three times, I guess it's true. Let me know if you find anything different...

United Speedometer in Houston can fix it for you if you want to mail it to them . They told me that people from all over the country mail them Speedometers and they mail them back . I think Shrimpy is right on the electronic part because I ask them what was wrong with it and they told me that they had to replace some electronics in it . I think the 89 and 91 trucks that have the old 727 that doesn't have the overdrive has the cable drive speedometer and the 91 & 1/2 through 93 have the electronic speedometers .

I think it cost me around 150 or so . I have the paper work on file at home . The Dodge Dealer only wanted 350 to fix it and that was a exchange for a rebuilt and I had to bring the speedometer to them
