2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission ODYSSEY Battery are they the badest boys on the block

odyssey look like a real good battery

but is there some one out there that gives you more

I would love to put two ODYSSEY pc2150 in my truck if I can make them fit rite. but is there a battery out there that gives you more kick that will fit in the battery box???

I use 2 of the 1700's don't have any problem with them fitting the box... . the new ones have a metal cover around the outside..... I took this off as it was siliconed in place and they fit the box... (barely) ... these are so strong, I was able to use only 1 battery in the winter time here in Salt Lake City..... so unless you want only 1 battery, the 2150 is too much waste of battery and money... . you don't need 2 of those..... 2, 1700's is plenty. and since these are a dry cel, they are better than even the red top or anything else... .

I am glad this thread came up. I was thinking of replacing my batteries with Optimas but the Odysseys look good too. Which ones would fit our trucks, the PC1700T or the PC1700MJT?

great site I was looking at the red top Optima but not now I think the odyssey Battery is the one to get.

Get the batteries from here... . for some reason the Odessey link don't work but just call the number and he will set you up... . These are the only batteries you can ship.

"Lightness" and battery capacity usually are at opposite ends of the spectrum - if you want higher capacity, you usually have to pay the price in size and weight.



Plus, you have to sorta watch some battery makers - sometimes the peak instantaneous amp draw they quote in their specs is only for a few seconds - a decent common auto battery will often supply well over 3000 amps for a short period.



The guy who invents a genuinely lightweight, but powerful battery will probably win the Nobel peace prize - and every maker of alternative fuel vehicles on the planet will be camping on his doorstep! :-laf :-laf

In the interest of accuracy, Optima brand batteries, as well as others, should be added to the list of batteries that can be shipped via UPS.

I always wondered why you could not just hook up an alternator, run it off one of the vehicles wheels and charge the batteries as you drove. A guy told me once "it's against the laws of physics".

No such thing as "free" power - or perpetual motion.



Sure, you COULD do as you suggest, but various drivetrain losses would more than exceed the drain of just putting the alternator on the engine.



Some of the hybrid autos DO employ the braking action of the vehicle to generate power back into battery packs - since it's energy that would be otherwise lost and wasted - but that's a slightly different application.
