This is my first post. Been reading along for months, great place! Recently added Mickey Thompson Classic wheels. Supplier mentioned using the OEM center caps for a different look(and much less expensive). Has anyone done this? I like the look, but have not figured best way to attach over the OEM lug nuts. Need to know how it is done. Can't believe how much I have learned reading what has been posted on TDR.

I am sure one of the more knowledgeable guys will be able to correct me, but I would think that it should just snap onto the OEM Lug nuts. The nuts have the ridge that holds the center caps in place. So if you are re-using the factory nuts, the cover should just snap on, unless the surface of the rim has more of a curve than the factory rim. Then you may need to space out the nut somehow. I don't know if you can safely do this with washers or if there is a better way. If the caps don't just snap onto the nuts, hopefully somebody else will come along and offer better advice.

By the way, From one newbie to another, WELCOME to the best site on the web for info on these great machines.

P. S. If you should lose one of your center caps, I have three of them in mint condition off a '96 that I have been thinking of getting rid of as they are different than the ones on my 2001. Email me and let me know if you need one (or more). I will be letting them go pretty cheap, I think.

The difference in the stock wheels and M/T seems to be a ridge that lugnuts set on to permit more room between lugnut shoulder and wheel. This allows centers to snap over lugnuts. Lugnuts fit closer to wheels on M/T so center caps will not go down far enough to snap in place. Thanks for the reply and will keep you in mind on those extra caps.
