True or not dont know but what I was told when I bought my truck from Dave Smith in Idaho and they were asking if I wanted a bed liner I asked whose it was and they said their own and they did it in house. And that it was really good and that the other dealerships across the country used it as well. I stuck with the one I liked which is linex and had it done at a local linex dealer after I got home. Dave Smiths price was less than linex but again I have had nothing but good experience with linex brand so really wanted to stick with it.
Sorry if that ended up sounding like a linex commercial.

My vote is neither, it's durable but not Line X for sure.

At the same time your dealer can install either.

But factory is just that, a factory spray in, I have not had issues with my 18 to speak of.

We have 2 trucks Line X its pretty nice stuff.

For the price I don’t think you can beat the OE liner, but for aftermarket I prefer linex. I’ve had Rhino and dad had the Dave Smith one, I think it was Turbo, and the linex has been the best of them all.

I’ve had both Rhyno and factory. Both have held up well. But I also have a rubber mat to keep things from sliding around too much. The tailgate takes the most abuse and both factory and Rhyno have held up very well. I wouldn’t have a truck bed without having a spray in job done.

I don't have the FCA ship-through info, but Chevy/GMC uses 4 contractors for the "factory" spray-on:
Auto Truck Group, Roanoke IN
Reading Truck Equipment, Pontiac MI
Monroe Truck Equipment, Flint MI
Knapheide truck Equipment, Flint MI
From the HD pickup factory in Flint - if the truck goes to ATG, it's then passed on to the GM plant in Ft Wayne IN for final prep. If it goes to the other three contractors, the truck returns to Flint Assembly for final prep.

On another board, someone was asking about the Duplicolor bedliner coating, which comes in either aerosol spray or can for brush/roller. While Amazon reviews were generally positive, a number of customers used it for items other than the bed - one used it on his Wrangler bumpers, and someone did their wheelwells with it. Wheelwells seemed like an excellent use for that, since many trucks now have exposed sheetmetal in the rear wells, even with factory "liners".
Amazon product ASIN B07PHQ4Y9J

I'm not knocking the OE stuff - it seems pretty durable from what I have seen. But Line X is top shelf from my experiences. I personally know a guy who is a Line X and Krown dealer. He is required to retain X amount of training hours to keep up with his license. I have no doubt there are bad apples around the country with a license but the same can be said with anything, including OE.

If you decide on Line X choose a reputable dealer with good reviews. You won't regret it.

FWIW, Line X is also customizable. I had the rockers and wheel wells Line X when I got my 14. Lots of dirt roads and poorly maintained secondary roads around here which is in the heart of the rust belt - the Great Lakes region. The coating has been flawless to date.

I can get some better pictures tomorrow if interested.

I really want one of those Fiskars mauls.

Have you been happy with it?

It's the best commercial maul I've come across. Very durable with good geometry. The only thing I could recommend over it is a Helko, but when the handle breaks good luck getting a true replacement. Ive since moved on to the Fiskar in both a maul and splitter. They are quality pieces.

I picked up the fiskers splitting ax and it is by far the best ax I have used. Very well made and works great on the knarly wood we have locally. Winds get bad in the winter and trees reflect that! As far as the factory liner, I have had linex and now have factory in the 2020. I would prefer the linex as it seemed heavier and took lots of abuse and still looked good.

Friends,

I bought this kit on Ebay several years ago... awesome product. Liner Xtreeme SPRAY IN on BEDLINER KIT Black 3 Gallons mixed Bed Liner with Gun, 12 Liters!

I sprayed my own bed liner in my former 02 3500 Ram. Prep is everything! I sanded the bed around 8 hours. It came with a spray gun, that's almost impossible to mess up. I didnt think at the time to take pics and do a write up. I also sprayed ramp on my enclosed car hauler and the wood floor of my 5.5ft x 10ft utility trailer. I used it on the bed of my 2017 Ram 5500 when I had the bed it modified to store my spare tire.

Been thinking about removing the interior of my Jeep Wrangler and spraying it. I think it would work great as an undercoat as well.

Cheers, Ron

I'm a real softy for the old stuff, traditional axe heads and hickory handles. But these units are just plain tough to beat. This axe sees daily use 5 months out of the year and you'd never know it. The handles on both this and my maul have taken cracks from stray swings that would put a number on a hickory handle.

I have a X7 hatchet and a X17 splitting axe. They are in the 5th wheel in the summer and the shop in the winter. Very impressed with them.

Dave Smith did a Turboliner they said on mine. It's going on 14 yrs now. No peel,no cracking. It was $75-$80 less than Rhinoliner here. I use a rubber bedliner in addition.

That is the one, was very uneasy about the composite handle but it is very good. Life time warrantee allows me to let someone else use it without worrying too much!
