Called the dealer and asked for the OEM premium brake pads for my 04. 5 truck.

Yikes!! They want 270. 00 for front and rear sets. #@$%!

Anywhere I can get a better price for the OEM pads?

Though expensive, OEM pads are the way to go IMHO, as long as they are NOT the Mopar "Value Line. "

I'd recommend you call either of these internet Mopar dealres.
They are brick and mortar Dodge dealers, with a real parts dept. that offer low prices, good customer service and no sales tax on oem parts.

Mopar Parts for Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep: MoparPartsAmerica

Save Big @ Mopar4Less.com!! - Full Line Of Mopar Parts -

They will still be more expensice then NAPA or AZ pads, but look at how long your oems lasted !!

Please DO post back with part#'s and current prices.

My pads on the '06 (Front & Rear) are still original at 107,000 miles.

When they are due for replacement I will put the OEM pads right back on it.

I don't know what they (MOPAR) used for friction material but it is the top of the line as far as I am concerned.

Part number for front set on my '06 is 5093267AA

List price this winter was $145. 00.

Checked it out so would be ready when the time came. Have not checked rear pad pricing as they are still at 50% or better.

wow, I only got about 40000 on my brakes,,, I went with hawk

Just to be fair and honest my accumulated mileage has been under the following conditions,

85% Unloaded on Interstate or Secondary Roads

15% Towing at a gross combination weight of 18,500 lbs on both Interstate and Secondary roads

Jake brake was installed at 90,000 miles approximately.

Pretty good brake wear regardless for a heavy 3/4 ton truck.

Except for the person that put the first 70 miles on it when new all mileage has been accumulated either by me or my son. We are the only two that drive it. He won't drive it at all loaded, couldn't live with the guilt if something happened to the truck, at least that is what he tells me. :-laf

From, that I have read here on TDR and experienced myself (75k on the oem pads and still going strong) that would seem be the rare exception with oem brake pad wear on these trucks... it seems that MANY people see 100k plus.

Like most wear items on our trucks (clutches and tires and brakes),
use and driving style have alot to do with actual mileage seen. Also in regards to brake wear, a truck that utilizes some sort of exhaust brake will always have a definite and distinct advantage in brake longevity over one that doesn't.

That being said, I DON"T have an exhaust brake (on the wish list), sometimes tow empty or lightly loaded trailers with NO electric brakes  , and am still getting what I feel to be exceptional wear from my oem Mopar pads even though I drive alot on hills and curves. However, I DO have a manual transmission and spend alot of time rowing the boat going up and down hills and downshifting into curves.

I think having an exaust break is key to longevity on break pads... I dont have that, and i guess im hard on the breaks also:{

They do have a very limited amount of Mopar pads, but mostly Hawk Super-Duty Brake Pads.

Just got off the phone with Geno's... they do NOT carry the Mopar oem premium barke pads, ONLY the Mopar "Value Line" which I will NOT be putting on my truck when (if ?? :-laf) my oem premium pads ever wear out ...

While Geno's feel that the Value Line is almost the same quality as the oem premiums for much less price, I would contend that they are much less in cost becuase the linings are are of a lower quality and almost all memebrs here agree that they have NOT gotten good service life from the value line pads. Just my . 02

Oem

My front's are like new@ 34K and the truck's had 2000# on it's back it's whole life. The manual transmission is a plus for brake life.

OEM in the future for me.

Not to highjack a thread but what brand of rotors are worth buying? I love the Mopar pads (the more expensive ones) but now at 110,000 my rotors are looking like they will need replacing soon. Any advise?

I can't really complain. I've got 93k miles on it and a auto transmission. It'll take me to 100k before I need the new pads.

I got 130k out of my stock pads on the '99 but have a 6 speed there w/ an e-brake. I was just amazed at how much the dealer wanted for the pads. Don't want to do Mopar value line based on what I've read, and I think Geno's only has those.

Seafish gave you the links to two reputable discount parts dealers. They provide a 25-30% discount generally and no tax if it's out of state.

140,000k and still about 20% left. E-brake is wired to always be on and about 50% of my travels are with a minimum of 8000# behind the truck with about 15,000k a year at a total weight of 24,000# and mostly in the mountains. I definetly will be buying the premium mopar pads when the time comes due.

FWIW, I installed the best Raybestos Pads (ThermoQuiet?), cost me $100 for both ends. I have around 90k on them, and feel I should get another 100k if nothing else happens.
