has anyone used the Mopar oem Automatic powered side steps extend when door is opened and retracts when door is closed ? they dont look like the kodiak sidewinder at all. i like the fact that you get the 3 year warranty even though they are twice the cost. i cant do the install myself as i am disabled and have to have someone else install them no matter how easy.

I just realy wanted to know if these are quality steps or not.

Thanks

I have them and would do them again. They are very nice and cannot be appreciated until you have them. They are manufactured by AMP Research.

I can attest to their rating.

I have had 500 lbs on them, and never felt they were going to fail.

My MIL has really bad knees (knee surgury gone awry) and she uses it heavily to get in the truck.

I got the AMP ones (through Bestop) and have been totally satisfied with them.

Only problem I have ever had with them is if you drive in a lot of slush around 20-30 F, you can get enough crap up there to freeze them in the up position. Only PS did it, as the slop is always on the edge of the road, not the crown.

Great product and I had them installed. I think it took them 3 hours or so, and they had never put one in and took their time.

Your not going to hurt anyones feelings...

How much????? because I think the Kodiak Sidewinder's are "old school and look lame" when you need 4 of them for a quad cab.

I have the AMP research labeled through Bestop. I got them wholesale for around 1100 and had a buddy install them. If you PM your email I will send you a couple pics.

They work great, and seem very sturdy despite being very lightweight.

I've had them for more then 2 years now. Still quiet as the day they were installed. Paid $900 and change for them installed. (again, 2+years ago). Absolutly love them. Would do them again in a heart beat.

Not sure if you guys know this but you can leave them down once the door is shut by putting your foot on them and holding them down. Makes it easy to wash the roof. When you're done. Just open and close the door and they retract back up.

Mopar sell two types of retractable steps. AMP research - long completely hidden when retracted or the Sidewinder individual steps which is still visible when retracted. The both have the Dodge logo and are priced higher than from the original manufacture.

I have the PowerSteps from electricsteps.com. Around $1000. 00 delivered. There is some pictures in reader rigs with instructions on the install. Very easy istall after you figure out how to get the dash out... . I love mine and definately would do it again.

Haven't tried that, I guess that would be the anti-pinch feature taking over. Thanks for the tip!

I dont know if you guys like to get stuck in the snow, but I DO !!!!! What would happen if there was packed snow below the steps when you open the door to get out the winch?

Has this happened to anyone??

I was thinking about running an off switch but would probably forget.....

It would just stay up in the retracted position. Once it senses pressure it stops. I had my truck on a car lift and had to get inside of the vehicle. When I opened the door and they came down and hit the lift but stopped once it felt pressure. A nice feature indeed.
