Hey All

Trying to locate some stock or equivalent dually rims. I purchased 2 rims from Southwest Wheel; when my tire Tech spun them for balance, it was apparent they have too much run out (lateral & radial). I then tried to locate some replacements, thinking the first set was defective. While talking with the local trailer shop, the Tech there stated that trailer rims weren't held to the same tolerance as vehicle rims. When He saw the ones I had; he stated those were the same ones he carried for trailers and the only recourse was new/used OEM rims. New is out of the question, per the Dodge Dealer, they are NLA. Used, I'm batting 0's, I have a few more leads to check here, but it isn't looking good. I will try web searching recycle yards, but thought I would check & see if anyone had a couple Dodge OEM rims they could part with. Please PM or email the price to me.

Thanks

Paychk

PS If anyone has an alternate suggestion, please throw it on the table!

Say bigtan--you wouldn't happen to live or work in Longview would you? Your trail rig sounds familiar. I think a guy named Cody used to have one like yours that worked for Pellet Performance offroad. Just curious.

I just had 2 rims shipped out of Arkansas yesterday, if those have too much run-out I'll contact you about yours... wish now I'd waited a couple more days. :(

I have had about the same experience with dually wheels as most everyone else and have thrown out about six or seven wobbly hopping dogs. I went through the wheels on two junkers and still didn't have enough to mount up all my trucks with good wheels.

Alcoas are a posibilty as are Chevy wheels that can be run on the front even though there isn't any coining on the holes. I have two trucks that are running these wheels. I mount them and use two cone nuts to align then put the rest of the regular dodge nuts on and tighten them and last I use the dodge nuts on the two that were alignment. On one of the trucks, I am running with the cone nuts in place. I see no difference in the service.

I have a Dana 80 from an 03 with duals (and Discs) which uses the same style nuts that Ford started using some years ago. I like these and will use the rear on one of my truck in the near future.

The one inviolate rule with the wheels is don't mix flat with coined running dual. With the coined wheel be certain that the coins nest. Beyond that, if it fits the stud pattern and hub and bolt holes size, you can run it.

There are Ford wheels that will run as well.

I will have some dually wheels available fairly soon, as I am getting a 99 model Dana 80 to put under my 92. Hence, I will have to get some newer wheels to go with the uncoined axle. All 6 of mine are true, or they were on the balancer a month ago- I watched them do it. Wheels may need to go on teh 90, though. Hafta check.
