What is this device on the Turbo?

How to add + 60HP safely/reliably?

Hey Guys, I need your help;

I want to do away with my OEM Fuel Filter as it's become too much drama to deal with anymore.

I have a GDP (#MK20306) after-market Fuel Filter Kit installed already and just want to run it alone.

My question to you guys is can I just eliminate the factory fuel filter and run it that way? … or do I need to install a Fuel Filter Eliminator like this one?

Thanks in advance,

Carl

I'm sure others will chime in soon about leaving the OEM fuel bowl alone. But to your question a simple bowl delete/bypass will work just fine. From memory those lines are a CP3 return and head return that T into the tank return quick connect.

I used a fleece bypass on mine when I installed my Fass system, they all do the same thing (unless you have a dual fueler distribution block) with a different name on it. Like a sports team pick your favorite and tell others why their sucks.

For curiosity's sake what issues are you having with your OEM bowl? Do you have enough filtration on the single filter you're looking to run alone? Safe guards aren't bad to have.

That filter linked isn’t a f/w sep, so you don’t want to run it alone.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you guys, my bad.

I'm having an issue with getting a OEM fuel filter to fit properly into the bowl. The only way to get it to fit is to cut the bottom of the filter off (see pictures).

I think it's that rubber bushing/gasket that fits into the bottom of the filter. I think its been left in the bottom of the bowl and that's been looked into by what I think are good mechanics and they tell me that's not so.

The truck is in the shop now so I'll updated the thread once I hear more from the shop ....

Wow, I hope you have not been cutting the filter and using it that way. If you have, and nothing has happened to the fuel system yet, you need to go buy a lottery ticket.
Use a quality aftermarket system like in the link, and leave the OEM filter out of the bowl if the only way you can make it work is by cutting the filter. You really need to find out why the OEM filter will not fit and use both if you want great protection.

I ran the Airdog2 with the water separator and 3 micron filter(s) as well as the factory OEM filter with no issues for years... every service the OEM filter looked new and IMHO was just another layer of protection, never had any delivery problems and my truck was far from stock.

So here's what the problem was with Fuel Filters not fitting in the filter housing. Apparently one of the filters I've been using had the bottom separate from the assembly (just like the picture above). That rubber piece along with the rubber gasket / o-ring (or whatever you want to call it) was stuck in the bottom of the filter housing.

Now, here's the rub, I specifically mentioned that to a few mechanics I had look at this problem over the two +/- years I'd been dealing with the issue.

This goes to the bigger issue I have these days and that is who I have working on my truck …. it seems to be not all mechanics that say they're Mechanics are in fact Mechanics ….. SMH

Merry Christmas Guys
