well im convinced, these goodyears are pretty sorry. our two new 3500 trucks [and my durango] have pretty much worn out after 30000 miles. all of my vehicles with the goodyears show signs of over inflation. they wear in the middle, while the sidewalls have good tread. look at your max inf rating on your tires and then compare them to the max ratings on your inner door panel. they arent even close. regardless, these goodyear tires have not come close to the michelins that we run now. for about 30 dollars more a tire, we have double the life. a piece of advice for my friends out there. spend the money up front, get a better tire, and dont beleive it when your tire dealer says "buy american" the only american tires the ive found are bf goodrich, cooper, and alot of knockoffs that are being sent to wallmart, pepboys, and the mass merchandisers. if these tires are the best that goodyear can produce, they need to rethink what they advertise. by the way, if anyone from gy is reading this, you should be ashamed or yourself for letting an american company stoop to cost cutting at our expense, and i do mean OUR. we"ll pay more for the best, but yours arent even close.

I'm not trying to prop up GY here, I'm no fan of thiers either, but I do have 57K on my OEM GY's. Mostly highway miles, but wearing well. Should get great mileage from Michelins if I can do this on GY.

Doing okay so far with my OEM Goodyears. Rotate evey 7500 miles and we will see; have 21,000 + on them so far. When they go there is no doubt will go to Michelins as have used them on all my other trucks and cars with great success.

I've got 45,000 on mine OEM tires. Michlens. Looks like I might get another 5000 out of them if I am reasonable about my driving. :p

My 97 was delivered with Goodyear Wrangler ATS load range "E" tires, I got 80,000 out of them, replaced them with the same thing in "D" load range. They now have almost 60k on them, and are still in pretty good shape. I did hit a sale on Firestone Steeltex last month, So bought a set of them in 265-75, load range "E" again. I'll wait until one of the Goodyear's wear out or fail, before I put on. The Goodyears do wear kinda funny, & it seems like they do hollow out in the center. Got the Firestones for $425. 00 tax included. Hope they last as long as the Goodyears did.

I can't stand my Goodyear tires and they only have 13,500 miles and they are almost dead . Sad I will never have another set. I really want to step up to 255/85R16 but I'm not sure I want BFG Mud tires, well I do but I want a wear out warranty also. So I will have to make up my mind soon, I am getting ready to take a trip and they will probably be shot when I get back.

Stock Goodyears here. almost 32k on em'. They are starting to wear quicker now that there is more tire spin:D

BTW, I will be switching to Michelins after those have popped.

I got 77k out of my stock Goodyears (not a lot of heavy towing, rotated them twice), but I switched to Michelins. I like them better.

Our 1996 V-10 3500 4x2 came with Goodyear Wrangler AT's, 215/85R-16, load range D. They lasted about 37,000 miles, much of which was towing our 5ver.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of life the 2002 gets on its Goodyears.

Got 68K out the OEM Goodyear 215/85-16's with a 7 tire rotation (including the spare) every 5K and a rebalance every 15K-20K.

I also had the wear in the center before the cords started to separate. Replaced them with Yokohama Geolanders 225/75-16's E rated for 79/ tire. Great buy although the tires were worn out after 50K. Put Michelin XPS on the year and LTX on the front and of the three tires, the Michelins are the best that have been on the truck. After 20K without rebalancing or rotation with the new Alcoa's, they look brand new.

Does anyone know if an OE tire is constructed the same as an aftermarket supplied tire?

hmm, all my the tires I've ever takin' off my truck look like this...

But, I thinkit's because I love the smell of burning rubber,, the excesive wheel speed :D seems to wear out the middle first...

Off the subject. . Has anyone noticed how quickly the insides of the front tires wear out compared to anyother part of the tire?

I've seen several 3500's in town and the front inside tires are worn alot more than ALL the other tires.

My '95 lasted 18,000 miles:mad:  with the goodyears, switched to bf goodrich and they lasted over 50,000 miles and two trucks. The goodyears on my '01 have held up remarkably well with almost 20,000 on the truck and plenty of tread left(rotate every 3,000). When these tires go I'm going back to bf goodrich. :D :D

FWIW I had about 60,000 on my GY OEM's . Maybe could have gotten another 5 to 7,000 miles before needing replacement. But before a long trip of over 7,000 miles. decided to put new Michelins on.

Was suprised at mileage out of GY but happy. Went through 16 new Michelins before I could get 6 that would balance without all kinds of weight on wheels.

Truck now happy.
