I need some help. While driving at night with the oem headlights I frequently get high beamed by on coming traffic. The worst part is I have trouble seeing the road even with the high beams on. Has any body else had this problem. If so what have you done to remedy the issue.

I didn't have this problem with the oem halogen lights on my old Chevy.

I have been pondering adding some driving lights that are equivalent to a regular head light and drive with the oem lights off.

I had a 05 2500 and had the same problem.

Any suggestions and pictures will be highly appreciated.

Thank You,

Richard

when i was recently installing my new suspension for my 2006 i noticed a headlight adjustment screw in fender well under the light housing. i didnt mess with it but it looks like it would adjust the light up and down. good luck!

are you carrying a lot of weight (tools?). that could drop the back enough that the headlights are now pointing in the air. I don't have any problems with my 06, but its always empty. (I used to have a 2gen sport which had great headlights, but I still think the 06 lights are fine. )

Is there a difference in headlights between the sport package and an SLT on the 3rd gens? I agree, I had an '01 sport package and the headlights were a ton better.

The problem existed before any weight was added to the truck. Both the 05 and current 06 are both Laramie package. To me it almost seems as though it is a focusing issue. As for weight in the back of the truck the air bags keep the truck level. I have measured the ride height with and with out the camper on and it is the same.

I was doing a little research on the lamps and they are Halogen and not Xenon. The halogens lamps, I feel, are putting out plenty of light but the light is dispersed and not focused. Does any body else feel this way?

When I sold the old Chevy it was last winter and it was pitch black out side. the difference between the head lights was literally night and day.

I don't think I can stand driving the truck another season in the dark.

I use the britebox with Fogzilla. I got it at geno's and will never go back. I can drive with only the fogs.

Silverstars in the headlights & foglights, a couple of little additions in the way of Hella Rallye 4000's & Katz MSC's... . :)

ASchwartz,

Can you describe to me in better detail as to how the lights work. I looked them up on the internet. The Fogzilla allows you to put the brighter lights in the fog lights.

With the Brite Box, can you run with your fog lights, Highs and lows on all at the same time? Or just the highs and lows or the fogs and the lows?

I have some light brackets on the brush guard I am installing. It would be a shame to leave them empty. I was thinking about adding some LightForce driving lights. Do you think that would be over kill? The nice thing about the LightForce is you can change the lenses.

Thanks for all of the input ;)

I can run with driving lights only; driving lights and low beams only; driving lights and fogs only; or driving lights, low beams, and fogs. If my lgihts are not on and I flash my high beams then all lights come on except for the driving lights. If my low beams are on and I turn on my high beams then all the lights come on.

I am also running silverstars in the headlamps and fog lights. If I wanted to I could drive with just the fog lights. They are very bright by themselves, due to the fogzilla allowing my to run a brighter bulb.

I am not familiar with the Lightforce driving lights that you are refering to. However, I don't need any extra light with the setup that I have.

Hope this helps.

I don't think you are the only one with this problem. I don't have other vehicles flash me with their high beams, but I agree that the OEM lights are not adequate. It's my biggest complaint about the truck. Fortunately, I don't drive much at night, but I'm interested in better head lights as well.

The headlights on my 2001 GMC were vastly superior to my Dodge. I really don't think there is much that can be done with the factory headlights. I think the reflector is poorly designed. I upgraded the bulbs with Sylvanias with no effect. I put Hella 500's in my Buckstop and these seem to work well. I get flashed when on brights with the factory headlights but don't get flashed much at all when using the Hella's. We do have a pretty wide median on I90 and I25 where I live so this may be part of the reason I don't get flashed very much. The factory headlights are the only downside I've found with this truck.
