I have the chance to get a used oem navigation system from a friend. I was curious to know what you guys that have the system think about it.

I called the shop and they have the install listed as approx 30 minutes, which sounded odd to me. Can I just replace my factory in-dash 6 with this unit or will I also need a special antenna or other special parts? Thanks.

which one are you talking about?

i have the rb1 and love it i wouldn't order a new truck with out it... but i hear the rb4 is crap no realtime map just directions.

30 minutes is a VERY conservative estimate. Yes, you just replace the radio. The GPS antenna gets tucked up above the instrument cluster, underneath the dash. This requires removal of the instrument cluster bezel, which is held on with two screws. The antenna will (should) come with the unit. Make sure you get it, as well as the DVD (obviously). Understand that you will lose the ability to listen to CD's while using the NAV system (because it needs the DVD inserted to operate).

Thanks! Thats what I was wanting to know. There was some confusion as to whether or not I would need a special antenna for the roof of the truck that I have seen before. I believe this antenna is for sirius or XM radio.

when you take the pld radio out of your truck inside the dash abvove where the radio is there is a space that the antenna fits just nice no need to pull the dash apart

I just installed it yesterday and it is great! I have never installed something that was so easy. I think it took me all of 10 minutes from start to finish with NO directions. . Thanks for the help.
