Infinity does not make the radio, that is the name DC puts on them to sell with their "Infinity" package.

The radio I removed from my father's 1998 had a sticker on the bottom stated it was manufactured by Alpine Electronics Inc. I would assume this to be the same Alpine that it very well know for top quality products in the car audio industry.

From what I understand, in my 98 the Alpine CD changer would have been a direct "plug and play" unit for my Infinity unit.

Only problem with Alpine is only small radio shops sell them, for 2X what there worth.

Crutchfield sells Alpine and so does Circuit City.

True Alpine units are a little spendy, but they have been highly regarded as some of the top products in the industry for many years. The good thing is the premium to purchase an Alpine unit in the last few years has been reduced as competition from other high quality manufactures has forced Alpine to be more competitive.

JMHO.

I wish the "Infinity" in my truck sounded half as good as the aftermarket Apline I have in my work van driving the stock GMC speakers:rolleyes:

In my 98 I had the Infinity, but back then it only included Cassette, so I replace just the head unit with one of those Pioneer CD players made to fit the hole. It sounded great. you have to hook up the wire to the amps to the power antenna wire so the door speaker amps work.

Chrysler currently sources radios from three suppliers: DCX Huntsville (a DaimlerChrysler subsidiary), Mitsubishi, and Alpine. Huntsville makes the RAS, RBB, RBK, and RBQ. Mitsubishi makes the RBN, RBV, and RAZ, as well as the 4- and 6-CD in-dash players offered in some vehicles. Alpine makes the RBR, RBP, RBU, and the RB1 navigation radio.

Does anyone know if the head units are interchangeable ?

I want to put a 2005 in dash cd changer in my 97 (currently have the am/fm/cass/5 band eg infinity system). Will it bolt in, or will I have to make it fit ?
