I'm gonna drive you guys nuts with 600 questions.

What does one really get when they get the off road package on a new 600?

Thanks again everyone.

Here's the skinny

Off Road Group

MSRP: $825. 00

4. 10 Axle Ratio

Anti-Spin Differential Axle

Fog Lamps

LT265/70R17E OWL On-Road/Off-Road Tires

Off-Road Decal

Tow Hooks

Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield

Why would anyone want the 4. 10 gears for off road if they have a low range? Maybe rock crawling? Even then I doubt they would be low enough - have to install two transfer cases to get it really low. I sure wouldn't want to put up with 4. 10 gears the rest of the time. Yea I can see some oilfield guys who spend 75% of the time in the woods wanting 4. 10 gears. Yes the tow hooks are nice. I can make the off road decal if that's the big selling point.

Maybe for those with intentions of changing to oversize tires/wheels versus stock size? That is the only reason I can come up with.

Yeah, the 4. 10 gears is the deal breaker on that off road package. Maybe the 4. 10 gears are good for the Hemi.

For the $825 msrp that the package costs, you can order the tow hooks from dodge for around 50 bucks. You already get the skid plate with the plow prep package.

Thank for educating me 3rd gen dudes. Much appreciated.

You actually don't need to go through the hassle of two transfer cases to get low gearing for off road. There are multiple companies making 4:1 gear kits and a 5:1 Atlas transfer case is available as well. Even with 35's I can't see the need for 4:10 gears with the Cummins. I'm looking to go to 35's just to get my interstate RPM's down a touch with my 3. 73's. However, if you plan on anything above 35" tires long term then the 4. 10 gear option is a definite plus.

I think the real question is "why wouldn't someone want 4. 10 gears?". I am glade they only offer the off road package that way, it keeps out the want a bees.

Oh, yes when you order the Off Road Package, you will also get a chrome "4X4 OFF ROAD" Nameplate.
