i bought my bilstein shocks from the off road warehouse. i specifically asked the sales rep " if i have a problem with these shocks, am i dealing with you or bilstein?" of course he says we will handle it. well now the song and dance. both fronts are shot. bought a year and six months ago. sales rep now says i have to buy two new shocks from him, send my old ones to bilstein for testing, hopefully get sent two new ones from bilstein, and then send the new ones to the off road warehouse. sales rep says bilstein is the problem. too me, they both suck. pay shipping three times? i wont buy from off road warehouse and the bilsteins did not live up to their reputation.

sorry for the rant

Had a near identical case with Bilstein. Very inconvienent to say the least with alot of down time and ending up doing the job three times. That's why I have Monroe's on from Napa. They seem to dampen shock fine and if they fail just bring them back for replacement locally.

For me this is a "shocking" thread, on my last truck (4X4 chevy) the Bilstein's went over 100,000 miles and felt as good as new.

Was going to replace the stockers with Bilstein's without a thought of any other brand.

Looks like the beancounters have invaded Bilstein.....

I just felt like I got the 'run around' which made me replace the shocks the first time, then the second which I had to pay for as I did not want the truck laid up for weeks with shipping and Bilstein determining if the shocks were going to be warrentied. Therefore, with my 96 I just decided to go with Monroes as I can handle the lifetime warrenty locally.

i have now put 1000 miles on the reflex shocks. they are great. no more ordering over the phone and then having to solve issues over the phone.

I've got two years with a heavy fisher snow plow (used 4-5 months/year)on front and many cords of firewoood on the rear without problems. I'm sure the Monroe Reflex shocks I have don't compare to Bilsteins but they seem to function fine in my application. Most important, they were easy to install without the top bushing bs with bilsteins and will be warrentied about 1/2 mile from home if they fail.
