Purchasing Extended Warranties?

Hey everybody. Nice to finally own my own CTD. I am looking for some reccomendations for some gauges, and someone to install them around St. Louis. I am pretty handy with gas engines, but never done much with a CTD. Kind of scared to diy right now cuz if it dont run I dont work. The fella I bought it from has it turned up quite a bit and said that I really needed gauges, and then a transmission if I am not careful. Thanks for the suggestions in advance. I am pretty sure I will have quite a few questions later on down the road.

Welcome to you Travis;

You have a great truck there. . I recently purchased a 97 2500 CTD myself and I can tell that it's going to be one of my favorites !!

The TDR site is loaded with great folks and great information... from your description of yourself, I would suggest that you tread lightly. Lots of the members on the site have had a ton of experience with Dodge and the Cummins. So much so, that it is second nature to them !! If you are like me, you need specifics (just as a good carpenter would use a plan when building a house, etc. ) What I think was my best move was to order the Cummins engine manual and Dodge Ram service manual. Now when I get advice from my TDR buddies, I can open the book and see what the "whatsis" is that they were talking about !!

You may receive several good answers for each question you ask !! I like those answers that include the site links. BTW. . there is a wealth of helpful information available in Cummins and Dodge sites as well as in the sites by aftermarket suppliers themselves.

Congratulations to you on your new arrival and

watch out. . these darned trucks are addictive Dick S

Ref gauges, I have had GREAT service and help from Diesel Injection Service and Genos Garage. . Can't go wrong with either one!

HEE HEE HEE, i know a guy in your area that used to own a truck EXACTLY like yours and is pretty handy with such things.

get you some guages and we'll get em in for ya. remember boost, EGT and transmission temp. make sure you get a boost guage that reads over 30PSI. you are pushing 32-34lbs now. after a new transmission you're due for a PDR HX50 and 4" exhaust.
