Blue popped a CEL this morning :{ , up came 2 codes on Smarty, they were P0071, "ambient air temp" and P0602 "checksum error", tried to erase, but they came right back. Anything I can do quick because the dealer is being ignorant to my needs :-{} and I don't want to cancel my vacation unless I absolutely HAVE TO. Does anyone have ideas? Yes, I'm REAL nervous right now! I'm supposed to leave for Randsburg tomorrow towing my trailer, well, supposed to, I won't go if I can't get any answers, but I'm sure someone here will chime in. Thanks a bunch in advance!!

Check for TSB on programing for battery rationality and IAT rationality. If I remember correctly there is a new flash for those, check the TSB section.

P0071 Could be a bad/dirty Ambient Temperature Sensor. If you clear the code does it come back immediately? Do you have an aftermarket it intake? The oil from it may cause the problem.

P0602 is always there when you run a Smarty. That one you don't have to worry about.

I HAD an afe drop in gauze filter until a few months ago when I replaced it with the Amsoil ea drop in. I cleared it and it kept coming back. UPDATE, when I put Smarty back to stock, the light went away, so I put it back on level 1, and still no light! Hope all is good! I'll check the sensor just in case tonight, but so far, my vacation is saved.

The flash will fix it,but no biggy just get it done at your convenience. Update your Smarty... ... .....

I would not worry about getting it reflashed before leaving for vacation. the way I understand it, the code is caused because the ECM must compare the Battery temp and the Air intake temps at startup, if it finds much difference it turns on the CEL because it assumes one or the other temp reading is wrong.

My bets are the reflash just enlarges this temp difference during startup.

anyway, I had it on my 06, and drove it for about a month that way until i could get it into service.
